McKinney-Vento Homeless Act

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Act was put into law in 2002 and provides for students who are in “unstable living situations” to continue at their school.

Students identified under McKinney-Vento can also receive services such as:

If you become permanently housed, these services will be provided for the remainder of the school year.

What qualifies my student as McKinney-Vento eligible?

Families who are living in situations that are not “normal” can qualify for services. If you are living in one of the following situations, your student can receive services:

 

How do I get these services?

Contact your child’s school, talk to your child’s teacher or counselor, or contact the District 11 Title I office at 719-520-2422.

Transportation opportunities

If your family is living in a McKinney-Vento eligible situation, you may qualify for district provided transportation.
