Manuel Navarro is the Fire Chief for Colorado Springs. He is the leader in a fire department. All of the firemen in Colorado Springs work for the Fire Chief. He makes sure all of the firemen are well trained so they can save people from fires. He makes sure there is money for training, equipment and fire trucks. When the Fire Department gets new firefighters, the Chief makes sure they have firefighting clothes. He listens to the firefighters and helps them solve problems. Sometimes he watches over the firefighters at big fires or emergencies. The job of the Fire Chief is very important. People must trust him. He makes sure all public buildings have fire alarm systems that work. He also makes sure there is more than one way to exit a burning room or building. The Fire Chief tries to keep fires from happening. He gives speeches about fire safety. He also makes sure public buildings like stores and restaurants are safe. The Chief decides how money is spent. He researches fire safety and gives safety tips to the citizens of Colorado Springs. Share with your group.
