What We Believe

Vision: Provide a program that addresses the culturally related academic needs of the Native American student populations in Colorado Springs School District 11.
Mission
:
 The mission of the Indian Education Program is to meet the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of American Indians enabling them to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful 21st century graduates. 

The Indian Education Program is committed to connecting families of American Indian students with culture, community and education. The Program is federally funded as part of civil rights legislation and treaty guarantees through the Office of Indian Education in Washington D.C.

Student Eligibility

  • The student must be enrolled in District 11.
  • Either the student or a biological parent or grandparent must be or must have been enrolled or recognized by an Indian tribe, group or band. 
  • The parent or guardian of the student needs to complete a Federal “506” Form indicating the student's heritage. 

Programs & Services

Program Goals

  • Provide services that address the culturally related academic needs of Native American students.
  • Extend program services to all qualified Native American students.
  • Improve cultural awareness and self esteem among Program students.
  • Increase the number of Native American students successfully completing high school and pursuing higher education.
  • Provide support and guidance for school staff in the selection of curriculum using Native American literature and provide assistance and materials to insure the accuracy of Native American history and contributions.
